In this ever changing world together with new technological innovations and developments in pop culture erupting weekly, it's nice to Nike Air Max Australia find that specific things remain constant.
Take Fu Manchu. Tough rockin' Orange County quartet recently celebrated it's 10th anniversary. Yet the group's musical philosophy and musical orientation have barely evolved.
Fans Nike High Heels can still depend on the wedding band (which performs tonight on the Galaxy Concert Theatre along with headliner Motorhead and Nashville P.) to whip up thick slabs of pedal to the metal acoustic guitar riffs and rumbling rhythms.
You will find little chance vocalist Scott Hillside is suddenly going to goes a rap laced rock track or deliver a pop punk ditty that will be embraced by business radio.
"When people buy a Fu Manchu record, they know what they're going to get: huge rock record," Pile said in a phone meet with last week.
About four years ago, Fu Manchu guitarist Eddie Glass and drummer Ruben Romano dared to suggest the group go in a psychedelic direction. This insurrection was quelled when the blasphemous duo was replaced by the greater like minded Brant Bjork on drums as well as Bob Balch on guitar. (The team also includes bassist Brad Davis.)
Bjork and Balch furthermore share Hill and Davis' music first philosophy. When it comes to road living, Hill generally decides rest over heavy duty adventure.
"I couldn't get wasted every night and be on the road for 6 weeks straight," Cheap Mbt Shoes he said. "After a motion picture you've got to get back in the suv and drive for eight hours to play the next show. You must take care of yourself. I'm pretty much out there to play music. People don't want to see you on stage finished and falling all over the place.Inches
Ironically, Fu Manchu is often categorized like a stoner rock band. Hill believes it's actually a misplaced tag. Not only will be Fu Manchu songs devoid of any pharmaceutical references, but the music tends to be more up tempo much less jam oriented than the more lugubrious metal of stoner rock exponents such as defunct Kyuss and Monster Magnet.
Thematically, Fu Manchu is focused on muscle cars, custom autos, '70s pop culture, Bigfoot and UFOs. They are subject matters that lyricist Hill can write about ad infinitum. You'll never catch Hill writing about political challenges or deep emotions.
The coverage of the group's most recent record, "King of the Road," incorporates a photo of a line of tailor made vans at a '70s auto rally. Fittingly, fans will at times bring their custom automobiles to Fu Manchu shows to show off.
The photos in Hill's songs are all based in early childhood experiences.
"The old lean muscle cars, the motorcycles, this surfboards, skateboards, custom vehicles. Even the way girls' curly hair looked all feathered. The 1970's was the coolest era for anyone that stuff. All of us inside band are into that thus it just worked its distance to the band lyrically and artwork sensible."
Hill, who was raised in Huntington Beach and San Clemente, results in as the prototypal Orange County beach boy. It's a notion he doesn't dispute. Though he won't skateboard much anymore, Slope still surfs every day whenever he's home in San Clemente. (Davis as well as Balch also live in the Southern area Orange County, and Bjork lives in Claws Desert.)
The Fu Manchu front gentleman also still listens to the songs he grew up with in the '70s and '80s. Hill favours early '80s hard core punk rock (Black Flag, Minor Menace, et al.) and 1970's hard rock Kiss is a big favorite.
In the past, Fu Manchu's brand of challenging rock traditionalism has been better been given in Europe than the United states of america. Loud guitar rock in no way went out of fashion on the other side on the Atlantic.
"People like all different kinds of new music in Europe," Hillside said. "If a rock band is definitely in town that week, they can go see that. People are seriously open minded over there. They don't care what you look like or how we dress or what flowing hair is like. If they like the new music, they'll get into it.In .
However, the trends may finally be catching up with Fu Manchu in the country. Hard guitar rock has created a significant commercial comeback within the last year or so. Plus, Hill shows that '70s rock is so outdated that it's starting to sound completely new again.
The vocalist guitarist is quite proud of "King of the Route." The previous album, 1997's "The Steps Is Go," was made just months after Bjork and Balch joined the group. The latest project features a more cohesive music unit.
The biggest surprise for "King of the Road" is a version of Devo's "Freedom preferred by." Fu Manchu isn't a band which will remind many people of that robotic new wave unit through the late '70s and 1980s. But Hill has always been a new Devo believer.
"The track was chosen by simply fans who were asked for the Fu Manchu Web site to come up with a cover music for the 'King' album."
However its heavy guitar audio immediately distinguishes it from your original, the Fu Manchu version of "Freedom involving Choice" Cheap Nike Air Max Australia won the praise of Devo leader Mark Mothersbaugh.
"We actually achieved Mark about a month previously," Hill said. "He stated he really liked a version of the song. We had been kind of nervous. We had not a clue what he would think of it. He or she invited us to go because of the Devo offices in L . a .. So we went down there along with hung out with him and that he signed a bunch of stuff for all of us. He was really cool."
Hill said the next Fu Manchu project might be a mellower offering than "King of your Road."
Hill expectation the album will be out and about at the end of the year via Titanic Records, the band's property for its last three albums. But don't expect a revolutionary departure from the signature Fu appear.
