Contesting party in the November 28, 2011 General Elections, Alliance for Change (AFC) has expressed grave concerns towards what they call an unjust locking out of its Polling Agents. The party stated that 135 of its polling agents had initially been restricted from entering polling stations in Region Five.However, by mid-morning the matter had been resolved. The Guyana Elections Commission intervened.According to a release from the party’s member Cathy Hughes,Sergio Romero Jersey, 135 persons representing the party were yesterday morning restricted from entering the polling stations on the instruction of Guyana Elections Commission Regional Returning Officer, Inderjeet Persaud.Mrs. Hughes told this paper that the persons turned up for work at the stations only to hear that the authorities at the locations were not in receipt of a list containing the names of the persons representing the Alliance For Change to work at the polling station.Mrs. Hughes informed that the AFC agents were told that the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) had not presented the list of the names for the particular persons and as of such the representatives could not be allowed into the polling station.
