$17M river heist…A man who investigators believe provided information to the three Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard ranks who robbed and killed 23-year old Dweive Kant Ramdass has been arrested.The man who is said to be a speedboat captain who operates at the Parika Stelling was arrested on Saturday.This was after police received information that he is closely associated to the suspected mastermind of Thursday’s heist.Information reaching this newspaper stated that the speed boat captain had called the ranks and told them about Ramdass who was traveling to Bartica with $17M in cash in a box.It is believed that acting on this information the coast guard ranks were able to identify Ramdass after intercepting the boat he was in on the Essequibo River.Kaieteur News was told that the ranks had turned back two boats which had left the Parika Stelling on Thursday.After pretending to be carrying out searches on the other passengers, they singled out Ramdass who they ordered into their boat and sped away.Ramdass’ body was subsequently found floating on the Essequibo River near a place called Caiman Hole, on Saturday.Police became suspicious after learning that the ranks had received a telephone call informing them that Ramdass was traveling with the cash.When questioned, one of the ranks told investigators that he had received a call from an unknown number.When they learnt that the boat captain, who was at the Parika Stelling when the robbery took place, was a close friend of the mastermind,NBA Jerseys China, they detained him for questioning.He has however denied any involvement in the crime.
