Authorities yesterday announced the temporary closure of the Vreed-en-Hoop Post Office which was recently affected by high tides experienced in the West Demerara area.According to a release from the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC), the closure commenced Monday and would have continued yesterday as forecasts indicated more high tides.“The communities regularly served by this Post Office can expect to have their usual mail delivery services. However, persons will not be able to access other services at the Vreed-en-Hoop Post Office and are advised that they may use any other post offices on the West Bank and Coast of Demerara. The two post offices in close proximity are (at) Fellowship and Bagotville,” the statement said.“As soon as the high tide phenomenon subsides, regular transactions will be accessible at this office.
