– detain vesselsThe Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Wednesday last seized $5M worth of alcoholic beverages, including more than 600 cases of Heineken beer that was being smuggled into the country.According to GRA, over the weekend, officers of the Law Enforcement and Investigation Division (LEID),Wholesale Jerseys, intercepted motor vessel MV Mr. John, off the coast of Montrose, East Coast Demerara.The crew which consisted of three Vincentians and one Guyanese was detained and a search conducted.The international vessel, which is registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,Nike Air Max Sale Australia, contained an assortment of alcoholic beverages. On it were found 670 cases of Heineken beer,China Jerseys, 47 cases of Smirnoff Vodka,Cheap Jerseys Wholesale, one case of Hennessy cognac and 23 bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky.According to GRA, information received by the LEID officers after questioning the crew of the vessel,Andre Smith Jersey, indicated that they were to meet with a smaller vessel to discharge a quantity of alcoholic beverages that they were transporting. The smaller vessel,Cheap Throwback NBA Jerseys, MV Amazing Grace,Cheap Wholesale Jerseys, was also detained. Investigations are continuing.The GRA noted that the vessels it acquired to boost its anti-smuggling operation are proving to be an invaluable asset during these operations.“The utilization of these vessels since their acquisition has significantly boosted the Guyana Revenue Authority’s capability to effectively combat smuggling in the riverain areas and along the coasts.”
