The University's mentoring program, which involves students visiting institutions across Cheshire to support pupils into their GCSE year, has been awarded Accredited Provider Standard by the Coaching and Befriending Foundation, the national standard for organisations running mentoring projects.
The scheme, that is running for seven a long time, has earned rave reviews from several of the participating institutions. Fully trained students are paired up with a pupil at the start of the educational year, and they spend one day per week at the school working together with their 'mentee' to help them reach their particular full potential.
From strengthening exam grades to enhancing self esteem, the scheme has received far reaching benefits for many on the pupils who have taken part, because they often value the chance to speak in confidence to someone who is not a teacher or perhaps parent.
