88 million grant for water plant

Ames Water and Pollution Control Director John Dunn told the Ames City Council at its meeting Tuesday night that the news had arrived only hours before from the DNR.
Dunn said the DNR, which also provides loans through a state revolving loan fund for water plant projects, receives it's funding through the EPA.
"This last federal appropriation had a requirement that the DNR New Balance 990 had to allocate a certain amount of that appropriation to projects with a green component," Dunn said. "Back in August, we submitted our water treatment plan to actually construct the entire facility to be (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. National Animal Disease Laboratory.
Dunn's announcement came as part of the council's preliminary discussion of the city's five year capital improvements plan, which plans for more than Buy Abercrombie And Fitch Australia $249 million in expenditures through 2017.

Electric Utilities. The city will invest $4 million this fiscal year in a $28 million total project to connect the city of Ames to a Mid American Energy switching station in Ankeny. The utility projects $51.3 million in expenditures over the next five years, the bulk invested in power plant repairs and upgrades.
Streets. The city will spend almost $58 million in street engineering and maintenance over the next five years.
Resource Recovery Plant. The city will replace the 36 year old refuse shredder in two phases beginning in the 2013 14 fiscal year, at a cost of $1.13 million from the Resource Recovery fund. The new shredder will be able to process materials, such as furniture and mattresses, that currently are being diverted to the landfill.
"It's old, it's requiring extra maintenance and it's not as energy efficient as we'd like to see, so we're programming for the replacement of that primary shredder," said John Joiner, director of Public Works.
Ames Municipal Airport. The capital improvement plan schedules construction of a new terminal building for the airport in fiscal year 2013 14 at a cost of $915,000, mostly from FAA Grant Funds.
CyRide. The public transportation service will spend $9 million on vehicle replacement over the Nike Air Max Australia Cheap next five years, which includes 16 new buses. Ninety percent of the costs will be funded Cheap Australian Ghd Straighteners through federal transportation grants.
