FBI chief to probe report that league officials saw Ray Rice video
The NFL appointed an independent investigator to look into its handling of the Ray Rice case Wednesday night, hours after a new report contradicted the league's insistence that no one in the league office saw video until Monday that depicted Rice striking Magasin Air Jordan Montreal his then fiancee at a hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Prior to the AP report, Goodell appeared to have the support of the owners of the 32 NFL franchises, who elected him to succeed Paul Tagliabue as commissioner in 2006.
