On Wednesday, the visits remained high with 7,000 less.On Thursday, as Kaieteur News broke stories of the preliminary results by Guyana Election Commission (GECOM), which put the coalition ahead, the online readership touched the highest ever- 339,919.On Friday, it dropped back to 291,693 hits with 273,646 on Saturday.Coverage of the swearing in of President David Granger on Saturday at the Parliament Buildings saw the Sunday online edition recording almost 289,000 hits.The website, www.kaieteurnewsonline.com, has been one of the most popular in the Caribbean recording an increasing number of visitors in recent months.On February 4, last, it reached 176,078 hits.This reflected the highest number of hits since November 29, 2011, the day after General Elections,NFL Jerseys Cheap, when the website, www.kaieteurnewsonline.com, saw a record 198,289.The online edition does not charge a fee for readership.More than 228 countries around the world have been visiting the website, which helped to record 186M views since the newspaper started tracking the numbers in 2009.The largest number of hits to Kaieteur News’ site is found in the US, with almost 55 million recorded between February 25, 2012 and February 21, 2015.Guyana followed with 18.7M; Canada 17.9M; United Kingdom 3.9M and Barbados 2.2M. These are countries with a large number of Guyanese immigrants.It would appear that crime stories –accidents, politics, robberies and murders – would account for the biggest draws for readers.Hits refer to number of times an article is read. |
