Detectives from the Force’s Major Crimes Unit have tracked down a Diamond, East Coast Demerara man who allegedly killed a gold miner five years ago.Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said that Seon Anthony Edwards, 26, called ‘Rasta Man’, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was arrested yesterday in the vicinity of Regent and Hinck Streets, where he was selling bottled water.Under questioning, Edwards reportedly confessed to killing 23-year-old Rawle Peters, called ‘Dumb Boy’, during an argument at Puruni Landing, Mazaruni, on September, 2010. He is said to have told detectives that Peters had accused him of stealing.There are reports that Peters and the suspect had an argument over $300,000 that Peters claimed he had lost. Peters is said to have struck the other man with a piece of wood. The man reportedly retaliated by slashing Peters in the abdomen with a chopper.Peters succumbed on the Puruni trail as efforts were being made to transport him to the Bartica Hospital.A post mortem examination revealed that he died from intestinal rupturing. |
