| This year, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will place increased emphasis on creating and enabling the implementation of the legislative framework for integrated delivery of quality effective and responsive health care services.This was outlined at the recent launch of health vision 20/20 – a National Health Strategy for Guyana 2013- 2020.Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Shamdeo Persaud listed better implementation of the health legislation as a key area of focus for the health sector in 2014.Persaud said that Health Vision 20/20 will address good governance in the health sector through encouraging increased compliance of strengthened rules and regulations.According to information provided in the 133-page document, key strategic actions include the establishment of a new governance and strategic oversight structure for the health sector led by the national Health Policy Committee, the updating of policy and legislative framework for health and the rollout of the Regional Health Act (RHA) Act of 2005, which is to establish regional health authorities with responsibility for providing and administering quality health services at hospitals and health centres countrywide.The document describes the new strategy as being supported by values of human rights, equity and solidarity in health,Cheap Authentic Jerseys, as well as principles and approaches that emphasize individual empowerment and social participation,Authentic Air Max 720, evidence-based planning for primary health care and sustainable development.At the launch of the strategy, President Donald Ramotar had highlighted the need for accountability and efficiency in the health sector with regards to the procurement of drugs and the provision of maternal health care.The President noted his disappointment with the apparent lack of accountability in light of reports coming from public hospitals and health centres about significant amounts of shortage and wastage of pharmaceuticals.The document states that Health Vision 20/20 is aimed at addressing the need to establish good governance in the public and private health sector in Guyana, thereby ensuring accountability efficiency and effectiveness participation transparency responsiveness, consensus orientation and equity through compliance with rules and regulations established.To make this a reality last year, emphasis was placed on reconstituting and sustaining the National Health Policy Committee (NHPC) by key players of the MOH.Membership comprising of senior management of the MOH, representatives of other sector ministries, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), select regional hospital,Vans Old Skool Usa Sale, civil society and Private Sector Organizations assisted in forming a management directorate, to review rationalize and amend health policy and legislative reform agenda.This year, the Health Ministry will focus on the implementation of reforms to deliver key agenda items such as the revised Health Facility Licencing Act,Levn�� Boty Nike, the new Guyana National Medicine Policy and strengthened National Import Control System to meet international requirements.During this year the Ministry will also seek to clarify, amend and communicate as necessary, roles and responsibility of actors in the delivery of regional health services,Bvb Trikot Ausw?rts, especially those in key positions that will impact mechanisms that ensure accountability.By 2015,Cheap Hydro Flask Sale, implementation of a detailed road map for the establishing RHAs is set to be in operation.
