| Five days after four dangerous criminals escaped from the New Amsterdam prison early Saturday morning, law enforcement officials are continuing the massive manhunt. The least number at work should be five.The prison service has been plagued with severe labour shortage over the years.Kaieteur News understands that the police have issued a stern warning to relatives and associates of the escapees not to harbour them or provide them with any assistance and to report any sighting of them.According to prison officials, Surinamese authorities have already been alerted in the event of the men fleeing to that neighbouring country.It is believed that the men who were both convicted and remand prisoners, broke out from their cells about 02:30 hrs on Saturday. They then somehow got hold of a sling (Cement sling) and used that to scale down from their cells before ripping a hole in the fence and making good their escape.The discovery of the breakout was made about 06:45hrs on Saturday, when guards checked the premises. It has since been revealed that the escape was captured on camera. He is accused of the murder of Cleveland Hetmyer called ‘Water Dog’ who was shot dead reportedly during a confrontation with the suspect and another man some 90 miles up the Canje River on November 4, last year.He and four others are also accused of murder committed on Sebastian Cleto on May 1, 2011 at the New Amsterdam Prison. He was arrested a few months ago at the Sheema Gog backtrack crossing at Number 78 Village, Corentyne. At the time of his arrest he was found with over two kilograms of cocaine.Vinood Gopaul, 19, of 34 Yakusari, Black Bush Polder, Berbice,Cheap Jerseys For Sale, another escapee, was remanded to prison on a charge of murder.
