| Following the tragic death of Chief Librarian of the National Library, Gillian Thompson,Adrian Wilson Cardinals Jersey, the Guyana Police Force has denied having any involvement in the accident which resulted in the death of the 47-year-old woman.DEAD: Gillian ThompsonOn Christmas Day,Atlanta Falcons Jersey, Kaieteur News published an article captioned “Chief Librarian dies in smash up with Police” which explained that relatives were told that the car which slammed into the library-owned bus, killing Thompson, was being operated by police ranks who were at the time, in pursuit of bandits.Other reports gathered by this and other newspapers at the time,Deion Jones Falcons Jersey, suggested that the errant car was being driven by bandits who were speeding away from police officers north along Shiv. Chanderpaul Drive when the car slammed into the bus which was heading west along North Road, Georgetown.Meanwhile, in a press release yesterday,Chase Edmonds Jersey, the Guyana Police Force said that it “wishes to emphatically state that no police vehicle or no vehicle in which there were police ranks was involved in the accident.”It added also that “the ensuing investigations did not unearth any information or evidence that the motor car involved in the accident was being pursued by the police.”The police force has urged journalists to seek clarification on such matters.According to the police, investigations have resulted in 24-year-old Odedo Underwood of Guyhoc Park, Georgetown, being charged with causing death by dangerous driving, breach of insurance,Jerseys Soccer Authentic, being an unlicensed driver and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.Underwood appeared in court yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry-Seenarine where he pleaded “not guilty” to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving and “guilty” to the other charges.He has since been placed on bail in the sum of $500,000.
