He was placed on $500,000 bail.His lawyer back then had approached the court and asked that he be given his licence since he depends on driving his minibus BRR 6403 to make a living. The Magistrate had thus ruled that the licence be returned to Heralall.On Monday February 16 Heralall was again at the wheels of his bus BRR 6403 which was involved in the accident that left one dead and nine others injured. Heralall was driving his minibus towards New Amsterdam.Upon approaching the Wellington Park Primary School he pulled across the road to drop off a passenger at the school. Another bus BSS 2229, driven by fireman Trellon Archibald which was heading towards Skeldon was speeding and had allegedly overtaken a truck around the turn, when he saw the other bus in his lane. He applied brakes, but could not avoid the collision. Archibald’s bus collided with Heralall’s bus.Persaud who was in Archibald’s bus suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital. She was being transferred to the Georgetown Hospital when she died.Both vehicles which were badly damaged and were impounded. |
