RCMP ready to fire Richmond Mountie with history of assaults who's back in trouble
A Richmond RCMP officer with a history of assault is once again in trouble with the law. But this time his superiors are seeking his dismissal.
On Thursday the city's Mounties announced in an online news release Const. Kenrick Whitney is facing charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of trust for alleged crimes that took place while he was on duty.
Last June, Whitney was suspended from duty and he was stripped of his police identification. Given the seriousness of the allegations he was suspended without pay in February 2014, according to Chief Supt. Brian Cantera.
"This alleged behaviour is unacceptable and not in keeping with the core values of the RCMP and public expectations," Mk Handbags stated Cantera, who is also acting district commander for the Lower Mainland District.
According to the release, Whitney's alleged Longchamp Tote Bag Toronto thefts took place within the detachment. He is charged with breach of trust by a public officer.
Cantera noted he would not comment further on the case as it is set to go to Richmond Provincial Court on May 27.
"He will also be facing a disciplinary hearing where the RCMP Commanding Officer will be seeking his dismissal," stated Cantera.
