Political class of This year.

4:45 PM Wednesday Dec 31, 201441 commentsLosers dominated 4 seasons in New Zealand politics. Winners were few and far between. Generally it turned out a horrible year for national healthcare, politicians, voters and democracy. That's the total sense you get from the variety of end of year summaries and testimonials published during the last few weeks. Most will therefore agree with Judith Collins' quip that 'Frankly I had enough of this year'.
The beneficiaries of an ugly twelve months in politics
Political correspondents are possibly Supra Vaiders the only ones commemorating this rotten year with politics. They had so much for you to craziness to cover, which you can enjoy in a 6 minute online video montage Timberland Earthkeepers Women of this year's political strife: Patrick Gower's year in national healthcare. According to Gower, this was 'one of the most bizarre years in New Zealand politics history'. In a similar vein is actually Brook Sabin's year in nation-wide politics.
Cartoonists and satirists had a particularly fender year, which is best symbolized by Steve Braunias' thoughtful along with confessionary The secret diary of This year. I was spoiled for selection. I couldn't actually keep up. This wretches were everywhere, steady while rain, thick on the ground, thicker as planks with their blunders and their excuses'.
Braunias singles out the hardest victims (Collins, Colin Craig, Jamie Whyte, Kim Dotcom, in addition to John Key), and also gives his reasons for not lampooning Nicky Hager ('I favored his book. I'm a fan'), when expressing his regret for targeting Julian Assange.
The downfalls, mental poison and foollshness, all provided editors with the opportunity to creatively catalogue them in their end of year reviews. See for example, Stacey Kirk's The actual worst political howlers of This year. She provides a comprehensive set of lowlights.
Better still, is Simon Wong's list of blunders and weird moments from the yr: Top political gaffes 2014: Election special. Most would go along with Wong's pronouncement that 'It got pretty mad, some would even express it reached "peak cray".'
Also, by using a fair amount of weirdness is Michele Hewitson's writeup on her strangest interview events, which includes a reflection on her 'interview' using Laila Harre and Pam Corkery   see: Pick of an wild bunch. Hewitson also discloses what Nicky Hager said to her this 'made Free Run 2 me laugh more than anything anyone else said this year'.
Not all were convinced with the media's coverage associated with politics this year   unsurprisingly, Martyn Bradbury has been the most trenchant in his criticisms, comparing 1 journalist to a 'homicidal chipmunk armed with the semiautomatic machine gun Air Jordan 11 Gamma Blue on a meth bender'. He or she wins Tiffany Jewelry the award for 'Best Journalist if Journalism is really a blood sport', while Andrea Vance is named 'Best Journalist'   discover: The Daily Blog 2014 Media Awards.
In contrast, Bradbury dinners out the love to those dealing with the 'MSM' in his blog post, TDB NZ Doodlekit Alignment Awards 2014.
Governmental awards and non prizes
The year was so bad in politics that some bloggers have been tempted to withhold giving any plaudits to the politicians. Such as, Andrea Vance says that '2014 brought out the hardest, rather than the best in our politicians'. Hence she quite sensibly put together a non politician list of 'those this shaped politics from outside the actual Beehive' (including the likes of Nicky Hager; Brian Farrar; Donghua Liu)   see: Influencing politics externally.
Similarly, Liam Hyslop looks beyond Parliament to get 2014's winners and losers. Nicky Hager is among the few deemed 'to make a positive difference in New Zealand'. This is due to the truth that his Dirty Politics guide 'should help to make New Zealand's politicians more wary of entering into dirty political tactics'. In contrast, the political losers are said to be the Buy Longchamp In Paris combos involving Kim Dotcom and Laila Harre, Iain Rennie and Roger Sutton, and Paul Henry in addition to Mike Hosking. See also, Aimee Gulliver's Exactly what a year: Political class of This year.
But for the best conventional set of political awards   and possibly the ideal review of the year, in all it is bleakness   see John Armstrong's 2014: Per year to get down and dirty. In this, Remedy details how all the functions got it so wrong having voters in 2015. With so much disaster in one single year, he is really a case for giving this 'Politician of the Year' award to 'the New Zealand Voter'.
Armstrong says that 2015 must have 'surely been recently the craziest year inside New Zealand's political history'. He databases his 'Losers' of the year as Give Robertson and Winston Peters; his 'Dog tucker' awards check out 'Kim Dotcom, Jason Ede, Maurice Williamson and (almost however, not quite) David Cunliffe, Hone Harawira along with Laila Harre'. The winners are considered to be Andrew Little, Paula Bennett, in addition to Cameron Slater.
According to Tracy Watkins, 2014 was 'the calendar year of dashed hopes' in politics, going to the frustrated plans of everyone Ray Ban Frames Nz from Colin Craig to Winston Peters to Hone Harawira   see: One very clear winner, plenty of dashed hopes.
Watkins gives her 'Loser of the Year' award to be able to David Cunliffe, and the 'Wally of the Year' to help Hone Harawira. Also in line while using general negativity, she provides Cheap Tiffany Engagement Rings the numerous departing MPs, nominating them for your 'Would we miss them? Award'.
Tracy Watkins' Fairfax parliamentary company also evaluate all of the front side bench MPs from the various gatherings, and dish out a bunch of reduced scores, together with a note of various poor performances and foibles   see: Front bench survey 2014's winners and losers. Seems like hard for them to find any kind of politicians that had a good calendar year   the exceptions being Payment English and Paula Bennett, who had a fewest failures.
