This was unauthorized, he said. Reimbursement of cash to a business man amounted to $100,000. This too was unauthorized.“Termite treatment for the RDC amounted to $248,000 I believe this was overpriced.”Crawford reported that he obtained the expenditures from the REO which stated that servicing of the Regional Chairman’s All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on two occasions came up to $40,000 and $198,000 respectively.He was amazed at the cost of repairs to the ATV. Later he found that no repairs were done on this ATV. All the mechanic did was change the lubrication oil and change the filter.Crawford said that funds for servicing and repairs for the regional chairman and vice chairman ATV should be taken out from the public works budget since it is catered for in that budget and not catered for funding in line item 62(11).He said that transportation provided for two flights from Mahdia to Kato return and one diversion from Monkey Mountain to Kato return for the RDC amounted to $1.2 million to transport counselors.The Chairman said that two return flights from Mahdia to Kato cost $560,000 and a return diverted from Monkey Mountain is about $160,000.Crawford stressed a lot of corruption is taking place within the regional administration and he is of the opinion that the excesses charged is going as kick back to the REO.He outlined that the nation is well aware that a no confidence motion was passed against the REO by the council, “yet the Minister has blatantly refused to honor the wishes of the council.”He said that it is a clear indication that the Minister and by extension the government he represents has no intention of working with the Region Eight Democratic Council (RDC).According to Crawford this is because Region Eight is not Government controlled and since persons did not vote for the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP/C),Wholesale NBA Jerseys, they are being “punished.” “It is partisan, divisive and demonstrates utter contempt for the norms of democracy.
