| In a matter of years learning in the Caribbean will not be merely confined to the classroom, but rather, it will be shaped by technological advances. He revealed that “in fact one of the Caribbean persons developing it is of Guyanese extract in the UK Diaspora…we have shared that portal with other examination boards internationally.”The CXC Registrar disclosed that currently NotesMaster has a presence in not only the Caribbean but also Botswana,Troy Aikman College Jersey, Namibia and South Africa, and according to him they are all linked. “So our Caribbean teachers using NotesMaster to teach History on the slave trade can also look at what there is in NotesMaster South Africa on the slave trade and utilise some of that material in their teaching,” said Dr Jules, who insisted that internationalisation of the learning process is in fact critical.Added to this, the Registrar said that CXC is also looking to institute moves so that “students don’t merely get a paper diploma.” This, he explained, will see students doing the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) subjects, for instance, securing 60 per cent of their assessment marks through the School Based Assessment (SBA).
