Flooding closes streets in New London
NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) Flash flooding was expected to be a concern for several Connecticut towns Monday. Flooding was reported in multiple municipalities such as Plainville, Hartford and New London.Heavy rain left trucks and equipment surrounded by water, and workers doing what they could to keep the flood from getting too far at Korab Autobody in Plainville."It started off slow and then the parking lot starting filling up real fast," said Destin Beckwith of Korab Autobody. "We had to move cars and trucks. We used to it. It happens quite often, but not this bad."Beckwith and a few of his employees were at the garage Monday trying to get a little work done on the holiday, when the rain started coming down.The problem was when it comes down quick, the water from the street rushes back here through the sewers."We have larger storm Tiffany Co America drains here in the back than we do in the street," Beckwith said.
